Contraceptive use is a crucial component of Family Planning (KB) programs aimed at reducing birth rates, maternal mortality, and infant mortality. Data from the Indonesian Health Profile indicates that the majority of active family planning users opt for non-LARC (non-Long-Acting Reversible Contraception) methods. These methods are short-term in nature, resulting in lower effectiveness in preventing pregnancy compared to other contraceptive types. This pattern persists annually and is associated with side effects such as bleeding, the risk of unintended pregnancy, and menstrual irregularities. Objective: To analyze the factors influencing the choice of contraceptive methods among active family planning users in the working area of the Payung Sekaki Community Health Center (Puskesmas), Pekanbaru. Methods: This study employed a correlational analysis with a cross-sectional design, involving 115 active contraceptive users. Independent variables included knowledge, age, parity, attitude, and partner support, while the dependent variable was the choice of contraceptive method (LARC or non-LARC). Data analysis utilized the Chi-Square test, with questionnaires serving as the research instrument. A 95% confidence level was applied. Results: The study revealed significant associations between the choice of contraceptive method and knowledge (p=0.013), age (p=0.004), and husband's support (p=0.025). Conclusion: Factors such as knowledge, age, parity, attitude, and husband's support were found to be associated with the use of either LARC or non-LARC contraceptive methods. It is recommended that the study site provide counseling regarding the factors influencing contraceptive choice to encourage greater participation among active family planning users.
