Abstract

ABSTRACT

Back pain during pregnancy is one of the discomforts experienced by pregnant women in the third trimester. One method to reduce back pain in pregnancy is with effleurage massage. The purpose of this study was to study the effectiveness of effleurage massage on back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester in the Ernita Pekanbaru clinic work area in 2025. The research design used in this study was a quasi-experimental study using a one-group pre-post test design. The population in this study were all pregnant women in the third trimester who experienced back pain, totaling 17 people. Sampling in this study used purposive sampling technique obtained a sample of 14 people. The data used were primary data and secondary data. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon test. The results of the univariate analysis showed that the average pain before being given effleurage massage was 7.50 and after being given effleurage massage was 4.50 so there was a decrease in the pain scale before and after being given effleurage massage. Bivariate analysis obtained a p value (0.001) <ɑ (0.1) indicating that there was effectiveness of effleurage massage on back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester in the Ernita clinic work area in 2025.
